Third Man Books is coming to Los Angeles for AWP 2016! For those not familiar with AWP—think SXSW for books. Instead of bands, there are writers.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY THIRD MAN BOOKS! Prepare your ear-holes, eye-scopes, and in-sides. We're throwing a party with poets Sampson Starkweather, Ana Božičević, Adia Victoria, plus a short film--in fact, the very first film he ever made--by best-selling and Grammy-winning writer/filmmaker Robert Gordon, and a RARE solo performance by Jack Lawrence (Dead Weather, Raconteurs, Greenhornes). Last week at Third Man Cass Corridor, Third Man Books celebrated the book launch for John “Inzane” Olson’s (Wolf Eyes) new bookzine of record reviews Life is a Rip Off Part One. Third Man Books made our first trip to the new TMR Cass Corridor store in Detroit. The night celebrated the book launch of John "Inzane" Olson's new bookzine of record reviews Life is a Rip Off Part One. Joining in the festivities were three poets, a guitar player, and a photographer . . . all Detroiters. And one Southerner.
Many know of Detroit’s music heritage. Not to be outdone, there also exists a tradition of amazing poets and authors from the motor town of Motown.
